Timely Tip: Keep Parents' Yellow Pages Handy for Long-Distance Care

Going home for a visit? In addition to a good visit, there's one easy thing you can do to help them from afar.

If your elders live "away," while you're visiting them get a copy of their Yellow Pages directory. If they still use their directory, take the one from last year, if it hasn't been thrown away.

Bring it home and keep it handy. The next time you need to find a local resource for them, if you don't know who to call, you'll be able to "let your fingers do the walking" for resources that don't have searchable websites. And believe it or not, many smaller local resources, such as churches, handymen, community centers, and non-medical home care agencies still do not have websites.
